Robert Fuchs: Serenade op.21

Robert Fuchs (1847 Frauenthal - 1927 Vienna) was mainly known as the composer of Serenades and had the nickname Serenaden-Fuchs . His importance is more as a teacher at the Vienna Conservatory rather than as a composer. The list of his students includes some of the foremost composers of his day: Hugo Wolf, Gustav Mahler, Franz Schreker, Alexander von Zemlinsky, Franz Schmidt, Richard Heuberger und Leo Fall.

The musical example is the first movement ( Romanze) of his four movement Serenade for orchestra in e minor (1878); you can also see a portrait of Robert Fuchs, (E. Stadler)
