Neues ÖsterreichNeues Österreich, first Austrian post-war newspaper set up on April 23, 1945 as the "voice of democratic agreement". The Austrian People´s Party (ÖVP), the Austrian Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) and the Austrian Communist Party (KPÖ) were responsible for its contents, in 1945 it even became the official gazette of the Austrian government. Its first editor-in-chief was E. Fischer (KPÖ). The paper, which was at first successful, was sold to a private publishing company in 1963 and ceased publication on January 28, 1967.
