Tauber, Alfred© Copyright Alfred Tauber, photo, around 1925 Tauber, Alfred, b. Bratislava (Slovakia), Nov. 5, 1866, d. Theresienstadt concentration camp (Teresín, Czech Republic), July 26, 1942, mathematician. Studied and habilitated at the University of Vienna, where he served as professor from 1908 until his retirement 1933. In addition, worked as actuary. Was esp. interested in questions of actuarial theory, statistics, the problem of inversion of Abel´s theorem ("Tauber´s theorems"), as well as in potential theory and functional analysis.
