Vienna, Sept. 23, 1836, Russian envoy to Vienna 1792-1807. 1814 Russian delegate to the Congress of Vienna. Patron of music, art collector, patron of L. van Beethoven, who dedicated 3 string quartets (op. 59) and the 5th and 6th Symphonies to him. Had his own string quartet 1808-1816 (which was then taken over by I. Schuppanzigh); acquainted with J. Haydn and W. A. Mozart. Built the R. Palais in Vienna´s 3rd district.
