Noricum-SkandalNoricum Scandal: In 1985 it became common knowledge that the VOEST subsidiary Noricum had illegally shipped weapons to Iran; as a result a parliamentary committee of inquiry was set up and the Minister of the Interior, Karl Blecha, had to resign. The responsible Noricum managers were convicted of endangering Austrian neutrality, the politicians in charge (Federal Chancellor F. Sinowatz, Foreign Minister L. Gratz, Minister of the Interior K. Blecha) were acquitted.
