Hlasiwetz, HeinrichHlasiwetz, Heinrich, b. Liberec, Czech Republic (then Reichenberg), April 7, 1825, d. Vienna, Oct. 8, 1875, chemist. 1861 professor, 1866 principal of the University of Innsbruck; 1869 professor, 1873 principal of the Vienna University of Technology, founder of the Chemistry and Physics Society in Vienna. Discovered chemical fission products by isolation, such as the first methylpentose, resorcin and phloroglucin. Publications: Über das Quercitrin, 1859; Über eine neue Säure aus dem Milchzucker, 1859.
