Vienna, Oct. 4, 1949, composer of operettas who maintained the tradition of the Viennese operetta. Many melodies from his operettas became very popular (e.g. "Küssen ist keine Sünd", 1903). In 1949 awarded the Ring of Honour of the City of Vienna. Works: 60 operettas (among others Bruder Straubinger, 1903; Die Schützenliesl, 1905; Künstlerblut, 1906; Der unsterbliche Lump, 1910; Die goldne Meisterin, 1927; Donauweibchen, 1932; Wr. Musik, 1947), 3 operas, 1 ballet, compositions for piano, songs and dances. Literature: R. M. Prosl, E. E., 1947.
