Brendel, Alfred© Copyright Alfred Brendel, photo Brendel, Alfred, b. Loučna, Czech Republic (then Wiesenberg), Jan. 5, 1931, pianist. Started his career in the 1950s, interpreting works of F. Liszt, A. Schönberg, W.A. Mozart and esp. L. van Beethoven (first complete recording of Beethoven´s work). After his USA tour in 1963 was considered one of the top pianists in the world. Works: Musik beim Wort genommen, 1992; Fingerzeig, 1996; Störendes Lachen während des Jaworts, 1997; Kleine Teufel, 1999 (poems).
