Binder, JosephBinder, Joseph, b. Vienna, March 3, 1898, d. Vienna, June 26, 1972, graphic artist and painter. Studied under B. Löffler at the Vienna College of Arts and Crafts; had his own studio after 1924. As industrial artist designed concepts and posters for companies (e.g. the head of a young African - the "Meinl-Mohr" (Moor) - that can be seen on all goods produces by "Julius Meinl", a chain of Austrian grocery shops), also designed packaging and shop-interiors. Successfully continued his work in New York after 1935 and worked on abstract painting from 1965.
